Lakers owner Jerry Buss hospitalized with blood clots, team spokesman says

(CNN) -- Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss is in a Los Angeles hospital, where he is being treated for blood clots in his leg, a team spokesman said Wednesday night.

Lakers spokesman John Black said Buss, who turns 78 next month, is "doing well" and should be released within the next day or two.

The clots were caused by excessive travel, the spokesman said.

The Lakers' first pre-season game is scheduled for December 19 at Staples Center, where they will face the Los Angeles Clippers.
