Meg Ryan, America’s Sweetheart, Celebrates 50th Birthday
Actress Meg Ryan, who melted hearts across the country in the 90s with her roles in films such as Sleepless in Seattle, City of Angels and You’ve Got Mail, celebrates her 50th birthday today.
In addition to Rom-Coms and Rom-Drams, Ryan – who started out her career in the early 80s with a part in the popular soap opera As the World Turns – has also starred in her fair share of thrillers.
In 2000, Meg was cast alongside Russel Crowe in Taylor Hackford’s Proof of Life, an action-thriller where Ryan played the part of a distraught wife of a kidnapped engineer, and three years later she scored the lead role in Jane Campion’s erotic thriller, In the Cut.
Away from the big screen, Ryan is a mom of two children – a 19-year-boy named Jack Henry (from former husband Dennis Quaid) and a 7-year-old daughter named Daisy True (adopted from China).
According to Wikipedia, Meg is currently romantically linked to American rock singer-songwriter, John Mellencamp.
